Emotional Health tapping for emotional release inner west

I know personally just how important our emotional health is and how much the quality of life depends on us being able to feel peaceful, calm, loving, joyful and optimistic.

Sometimes the reality is quite the opposite – you may be feeling anxious, guilty, depressed, sad, heartbroken, fearful, angry and suffer low self-esteem and lack of confidence. You may be trying to bottle them up or feel overwhelmed by them – either way negative emotions can lead to ill health, broken relationships or financial difficulties.

Yet all of this can be turned around so these forces don’t control your life.

Tapping for emotional release is a gentle, non-invasive way to dissolve emotional pain and it is extraordinarily quick and effective. It also relieves the physical tension that goes alongside the feelings, clears the mind and lowers the levels of your stress hormones.

“Thank you so much for today’s session – I can’t believe how much lighter I feel.  I found myself singing when I got home and realised that a whole period of time had passed and I wasn’t on my incessant worry-wheel.”

Grief is a normal human emotional response and sometimes you may need help in dealing with loss or other traumatic event.  Grieving clients always find EFT Tapping to be immensely healing and of great comfort. Sometimes grief can be suppressed for many years and you can also find liberation from that.

“I can feel such an amazing difference after just 2 sessions. The sadness of 25 years repressed grief has lifted and has been replaced with hope and lightness.  My whole pattern of thoughts has changed radically which has freed me to move ahead in every area of my life.”

A word about weight loss or body image – which can be seen from the perspective of both physical and emotional health. In this visual and body conscious age the quest to lose physical weight is often fraught with failure, and emotions can run high. However emotional eating, food addictions, and most importantly, the underlying causes of them can all be treated with tapping.

“I had a sugar addiction for as long as I can remember.  I have tried lots of other techniques to deal with this addiction, but it continued to hang around… I still like sugar and there are times in the day that I want to go and eat a lot of it. When these feelings come, I tap them away and get on with my day.  I feel grateful for having something proactive to do when the craving hits.  I feel in control.”

Trauma and PTSD

All of us are visited by some sort of trauma during our lifetime. Trauma is any injury or shock causing physical, psychological or emotional distress. It can be major or minor, may happen to you directly or may be something you witness - abuse (mental, emotional, physical and sexual), accidents, separation, abandonment, divorce, suicide, betrayal, diagnosis with a life-threatening illness, medical tests and treatments, death of a loved one, assault, robbery, business failure, bankruptcy, wartime combat.

Severe traumas which threaten your life or safety, or that of others, can sometimes cause Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), which describes a particular set of stress reactions that develop. The event could be a car crash or another type of serious accident, physical or sexual violence, disasters such as bush fire or floods, or experiences during war. PTSD can happen after one traumatic event or after repeated exposure to trauma.

EFT Tapping is a powerful treatment for healing present and past traumas. Gary Craig, the founder of EFT, first used tapping on Vietnam Veterans and it is used with great success on combat veterans and other first responders today and also used around the world to assist those people caught up in terrible disasters – the Rwandan genocide and mass shootings in America are just two examples.

When we’re threatened in some way, fear mobilises the flight or fight response which makes us take action to protect us from danger.  Sometimes when there is no way to mobilise a response, the backup reaction is to freeze and the fear based energies of flight or fight are not discharged and remain trapped in the body. Our mind cuts off from them in order to protect us but the frozen traumatic memories in all their raw intensity may be triggered at any time.

So as well as the upsetting immediate impact, traumatic shock can also be driven into your subconscious, residing in your body for years, wreaking havoc in many ways you may not even be aware of.  I’ve worked with many people who haven’t recognised trauma as the cause of their struggles.  And often people feel ashamed of feeling broken and don’t feel deserving of help.

Tapping gently frees you from emotional issues that may have been locked away for a long time. You don’t have to remember exact details, or speak of them if it’s upsetting – tapping works on trauma healing without dwelling on painful experiences. The aim is to relieve the trauma as quickly as possible.

After working on a traumatic accident with a client I asked how she was feeling. In her words:

“I honestly didn’t know. I explained it as: “I feel like there’s something missing in my head, but in a good way”; “I feel like a circuit has been broken”; “I feel like something that used to travel around my brain on this long, tortuous, winding pathway, has now been zapped”. It was quite extraordinary. I left the session feeling amazed and excited, and so grateful for Margaret’s expertise and the power of EFT.”

EFT Tapping for Ongoing Traumas

Tapping can strengthen and comfort you during an ongoing trauma, such as the illness of a loved one. You can use tapping either yourself or with a professional to meet the challenges that arise. Using the eft tapping points is a wonderful support system at the end of your fingertips which can greatly assist you in overcoming ongoing trauma.

When you clear past traumas, you can feel amazing liberation and relief. However, it is easy to get lost in or overwhelmed by the emotional and physical symptoms that arise, so I do recommend working on trauma with a professional to help you achieve freedom with minimum distress.
